Founded in 2002 by a group of teachers who believed a different approach to education was possible, Eastside Academy is a therapeutic high school that was created as a refuge and place of growth for high school students who may not fit the mold of traditional schools. Through a unique blend of individualized attention and support in the classroom with comprehensive counseling and addiction recovery programs, we provide a safe community for students where they can begin the process of healing and restoration. We believe that every student deserves a second chance and provides a safe community where students can be known. Instructional Excellence + Continuous Growth
- Prepare engaging and well-structured lessons and unit plans
- Align with the school’s instructional philosophy and design while being creative and flexible
- Use a range of assessments and strategies to support individualized learning

Mentorship + Student Growth

Collaboration + Communication
- Work with Counseling, Housing, and Student Services to understand specific student needs to better support student outcomes.
- Communicate regularly and graciously with parents and caregivers.
- Maintain accurate student records that can be used to track growth.
- Contribute to the collaborative and holistic creation of EA’s environment through staff meetings, professional development, etc.
Qualifications/Skills
Required
- Christian Faith
- Desire to teach in a Christian setting
- Bachelor’s Degree with valid teaching certificate
- Excellent communication skills; the ability to interact confidently with families, students, and networks within the community.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Organized and able to multi-task in a small school environment.
- Clearance from Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance.
- Demonstrated experience working in a missional environment, presenting an invitational and hopeful Christianity to those who may be ambivalent, skeptical, or even hostile to the Christian faith.
Preferred
- Valid/Current CPR and First Aid Certification
- 1-2 years of educational experience
- Experience with Teaching for Transformation® model of curriculum design
- Skills in de-escalation strategies
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
- Frequently requires extended periods of pacing, standing or sitting while teaching.
- Frequently requires extended working periods in a climate-controlled office with occasional work outdoors.
- Frequently requires hearing and speaking to individuals in person, on the phone, and communicating via Slack®.
- Occasionally requires lifting objects up to 25 lbs and physical activity such as joining PE classes, walking during field trips.
- Facilitating and chaperoning off-site student trips.
Benefits

The Opportunity
We’re seeking a Philanthropy & Engagement Officer who brings together creativity, strategy, and relational warmth. In this role, you will help fuel the mission of Eastside Academy by strengthening relationships across our donor base (individuals, churches, corporations, and community partners) while shaping how our story is told across digital and physical communication channels.
This position is ideal for someone who loves people and loves the craft of communication; someone who can move easily between coffee conversations with donors, designing social media content, collaborating on program stories, and helping execute meaningful fundraising and engagement events.

Key Responsibilities
Donor & Partner Engagement/ Fundraising
- Establish, cultivate, and steward strong relationships with donors and community partners.

- Craft and make compelling asks for crucial funds to reach and surpass fundraising goals.
Communications & Storytelling

What We’re Looking For

- Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public relations, business development, or a related field preferred.
- 2–5 years of experience in marketing, sales, fundraising, nonprofit program work, or related roles.
- Digital design or creative content experience is a plus.

Teaching Intern
Teaching Internship
Job Summary:
The Teacher Intern will assist and support the classroom teacher in various educational activities. The intern will gain hands-on experience in lesson planning, classroom management, and student engagement, contributing to the overall development and success of the students. This internship provides an opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge in a real-world classroom setting. This internship will take place during the work week and a minimum of four hours a day in the afternoons.
Key Responsibilities:
- Classroom Assistance: Support the teacher in managing the classroom environment and maintaining student discipline.
- Lesson Preparation: Assist in preparing teaching materials, handouts, and other educational resources.
- Student Engagement: Lead small groups or individual students during class activities, providing academic support and encouragement.
- Observations: Observe the teacher’s methods, classroom dynamics, and student interactions to learn effective teaching strategies.
- Grading and Assessments: Help with grading assignments, quizzes, and other assessments under the teacher’s guidance.
- Classroom Management: Assist in maintaining a positive learning environment by helping with classroom routines, transitions, and organization.

Chaplain Assistant Internship
Eastside Academy Chaplain Assistant Internship
Position Summary
The Chaplain Assistant Internship is an opportunity to serve the students of Eastside Academy and experience the daily activities of Christian youth ministry. It is a combination of learning from an experienced youth minister and chaplain while also providing opportunities for hands-on ministry experience. The position assists the EA Chaplain in planning spring retreat activities, chapel gatherings, and student service projects, while participating in their implementation using Eastside Academy’s mission of spiritual formation and education. Further, the Chaplain Assistant Intern will assist in relationally leading teens while also serving as an EA ambassador in all interactions with the community. Most importantly, the CAI will have the privilege of sharing the gospel with youth as an overflow of her/his own faith journey.
Essential Functions
Within the role of Chaplain Assistant Intern, you will have the opportunity to grow in your understanding of youth ministry through personal & cohort-based coaching built around EA cultural attributes (Christ-centered, relational equity and trust, courageous vulnerability and honesty, safe and sacred storytelling, joyful camaraderie, and holistic growth-based development) while also implementing vital job functions such as communicating with families, spending time with students, leading and coordinating chapel gatherings, supporting student services, and participating the daily teamwork of EA community. You will also actively participate in Staff Meetings and Professional Development training.
