History/English Teacher

Description: Eastside Academy (www.eastsideacademy.org) is a non-profit, Christian alternative high school (grades 9 – 12) for highly at-risk youth. Located in Bellevue, WA.

Responsibilities:
Plan and implement instruction consistent with the school approved curriculum for assigned subject areas.
Submit quarterly syllabi prior to the start of each quarter
Promote an effective system of student responsibility and accountability
Promote a classroom environment that respects the dignity of the student and is perceived by the students as equitable, consistent, and based on clear expectations
Modify instruction to meet the needs of the students
Employ a variety of methods and materials that will provide a holistic approach to students’ learning academically, spiritually, and emotionally
Effectively manage classroom by implementing discipline, time management, and organization consistent with school policy
English teaching position includes teaching a Senior Seminar class which provides the necessary support, skills and preparation for graduating students.

Qualifications:
Be a professing Christian and a member of a church or Christian community
Hold a Bachelor’s Degree (required) or a Master’s Degree (preferred) from an accredited college or university
Be able to work and live in harmony with the core values and affirmations of the Eastside Academy
Demonstrate experience and competence in the requirements for this position, particularly in having experience working with at-risk youth
WA State Teacher Certification preferred

Bellevue Presbyterian Youth/ReNew Homes for Youth Associate (Boys home)

Description: Re: New Homes for Youth are a partnership between Eastside Academy (www.eastsideacademy.org) a non-profit, Christian alternative high school (grades 9 – 12) for highly at-risk youth, and Bellevue Presbyterian Church (www.belpres.org). Re: New is designed to provide an intentional, healing community for youth that attend Eastside Academy and are in need of safe, stable, therapeutic housing. Associate House Parents are the employees of the partner Eastside Academy and work in a home with up to 6 high school youth. This position includes participation in a cohort with other ministry residents as well as serving within the high school ministry at BelPres. There is opportunity to be mentored and learn within a network of people to include pastoral staff and other ministry professionals. This position collaborates with other Residents to support, reflect and grow spiritually and professionally.
ReNew Residents are the employees of the partner Eastside Academy and work in a home with up to 6 high school youth, invest in the High School Ministry at BelPres and engage in the School of Ministry’s Residency Program.

Serve as Associate House Parent:
Provide in-home care to students while house parents are off schedule
Develop and maintain appropriate boundaries with students and staff
Cultivate and maintain positive and healthy relationships with house parents
Participate regular case management meetings, staff training, development
Provide mentoring and support to student residents by building relationships, guiding activities, providing professional support.
BelPres Youth 50%
Re: New Residents works closely with the High School Director and High School Associate in the implementation and development of the needs of the Bellevue Presbyterian Church High School Ministry.
Program Responsibilities include assisting BelPres staff with tasks associated with high school youth group.

Includes:
Help facilitate the lobby and worship experiences.
Spend 2 hour of contact work with students each week.
Assist in organizing events that help to bridge relationships between EA and BelPres students.
Attend BelPres High School Ministry events/retreats in partnership with EA student participation
Weekly meet with Youth Director and/or High School Associate for meetings.

General Requirements:
Have a positive attitude and be able to handle difficult situations with a professional demeanor.
Work with other team members with cooperation.
Competent using Microsoft Office programs and basic office equipment
Effective problem solving with students, parents, and/or volunteers
Flexibility and quick to think and respond in the moment

Residential House Parent Couple at Girl's ReNew Homes for Youth

**Live in position: Separate two bedroom apartment within home


Description: Re: New Youth Homes are a partnership between Eastside Academy (www.eastsideacademy.org) a non-profit, Christian alternative high school (grades 9 – 12) for highly at-risk youth, and Bellevue Presbyterian Church (www.belpres.org). Re: New is designed to provide an intentional, healing community for youth that attend Eastside Academy and in need of safe, therapeutic housing. House parents are the employees of the partner Eastside Academy and reside in a home with up to 6 high school youth.
Providing intentional, caring, and therapeutic support to student residents is the cornerstone of this position. These jobs are considered two of the most critical roles at Eastside Academy.

Nurturing, Educating, and Parenting Residents
Demonstrates ability to guide and support each resident entrusted to our care by building relationships, mentoring, and guiding students’ residents in a relational and professional manner. Includes:
Fostering relationships between residents and families of origin.
Protecting the rights and dignity of each resident.
Attending to each resident’s wholistic health care needs (physical, emotional, spiritual).
Helping youth learn valuable life-skills around employment, time management, academics, personal goals, healthy lifestyle, etc.
Attending to residents' personal safety.
Facilitating recreational and leisure activities
Facility and Office Management
Responsible for the management and maintenance of the resident home facility by (requires the use of stairs by the employee), which include professional (daily) documentation, work scheduling, and home upkeep.
Providing transportation with housing vehicle.
Program & Personal Development
Attending weekly staff meetings, supervisor check ins, and team meetings as needed.
Committing to personal growth through staff and individual educational opportunities and participating in church community.

Qualifications:
Be a professing Christian and a member of a church or Christian community.
High school diploma or equivalent required. AA/BA strongly preferred.
Be able to work and live in harmony with the core values and affirmations of Re: New and its partners.
Experience in Christian youth ministry required. Experience with residential youth program development/administration highly preferred.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Outlook required.
Valid Washington State Driver’s License and willingness to use program or personal car for work-related purposes.
Agreement with ReNew Partners’ Statements of Faith.
