The Renew Housing program provides some Eastside Academy students with secure housing that enables them to attend our school. Our Boys House and Girls House can accommodate six students each and are run by caring house parents and staff that provide safe, caring, and stable environment. These homes are run in a cooperative partnership with Bellevue Presbyterian Church.

These homes work in conjunction with student education and counseling, and are facilitated by Christian couples who have experience working with students who might need additional care and support. These homes are giving youth the stability and life skills they need to put the pieces of their lives back together.

Renew Housing Facts

  • 42% of our youth were homeless or low-income households. These teens are able to attend high school because they are offered long-term safety and stability.
  • Youth living in the home are completely provided for by Eastside Academy. All meals, clothing, incidentals, school supplies, and more, are covered by the school at no additional cost to the family.
  • We have helped more than 60 teens living in our homes find part-time employment. Teens who are able to hold down part-time jobs whole attending school were helped with developing resumes and interviewing. Many worked throughout their times in the homes, providing them with valuable work experience.
  • Students who are coming to our homes from in-patient substance treatment facilities are given round-the-clock support and care as they integrated back into life beyond of treatment.
  • 80% of our residents achieved honor roll, 3.5 GPA and above, and see improved academic outcomes

I have lived in the homes for over a year now. I remember the first day I moved in. I was very hesitant even to try to get to know the other residents in the home. Over the time I have lived there, my view of life has changed. My value in life is different. I have gone from wanting to end my life to wanting to live my life to the fullest. I never wanted to receive mental health help but the homes and the support I got there have helped me receive the help I need.

Family Support

Renew Housing

Eastside Academy’s commitment to supporting safety and stability is not limited to our residential program. EA supports all of our families, even those living at home with parents or guardians, when support is requested by families.

Examples of this support may include:

  • Assistance with social services including access to food, transportation, and health care.

  • Direction to mental health and recovery options outside of EA when this support is necessary.

  • Guidance on principles that may help the parent-child relationship.

  • Multiple-sibling enrollment at Eastside Academy.

At Eastside Academy, we view our partnership with families as critical to student success and stand ready to support families in whatever way we can.
