Schedule & Rhythms

The use of time is a powerful statement about the practices we value. Our daily, weekly, and yearly rhythms are specifically designed to promote the behaviors and outcomes we hope to see in our students. Pace, balance, and safety are all factors we consider in establishing our schedule.

Daily Schedule

Beginning in the 2024-25 school year, our typical daily schedule will run from 8:30-3:30, with variable times for core classes, counseling, electives, and other school activities. We provide plenty of time between classes so that students have opportunity to recharge, have a snack, or talk with friends and teachers. We also have an early release at 12:30 on Fridays for staff professional development (some student counseling sessions may also occur .This pace reduces student anxiety and provides a chance to build healthy relationships.

Weekly Schedule

Our weekly schedule incorporates all the things we believe our valuable for student development: a designated time for all-school Chapel, Advisory time for discussion and team building, slots for students to meet with their mentors, and designated Office Hours for students to advocate for themselves and seek extra help from teachers as needed.

Yearly Schedule

Because our school days are slightly longer, our full school year is shorter than some public schools – usually around 170 days per year. Because we value time for students to step away from school life, we take full-week breaks for Thanksgiving, mid-Winter (February), and Spring Break (around Easter), along with two full weeks for Christmas. In addition, our yearly schedule is highlighted by an average of one school-wide outing per month for field trips that support classroom instruction or for outdoor activities like rock climbing, snowshoeing, or river rafting.
